We had our hopes up with MM & MM+ just to have it thrown away due to Sega neglecting the franchise. Or so we thought because eventually we get nothing. It was a very promising future ahead for Project Diva.

It was enjoyed by newcomers at least but it was quickly overshadowed by Future Tone, finally bringing the arcade gameplay to a home console, making it more accessible than ever before.

Time for the downfall, we get X which was which was, 😑, different and flawed. It’s still regarded as one the best in the series and is the best mainline console Project Diva game. It was F but on all sorts of performance enhancing drugs. F2nd arrives after F and it was amazing what with its mechanics, mix of old and new songs, loads of modules, and a refined edit mode in addition to loads of other things. We got F, Project Diva’s debut outside Japan and the most ambitious and anticipated Project Diva yet. I’m getting ahead of myself, back to the Diva games.

Mirai DX nothing but a small but very cool upgrade of Mirai 2 in Japan but outside of Japan, it was big as it was the first (and only) Mirai game released outside Japan and the first time we got a Miku rhythm game that’s not on PlayStation. The first game fumbled with that a bit but it was on to something as Mirai 2 took what Mirai 1 did and just improved so much of it that it was almost a fully fledged Diva game (features wise) on the 3DS. Mirai 1 did its very best to get a Diva like game on to the 3DS despite its limitations.

Each PSP Diva game got a DT equivalent on PS3 and the arcade line got its start the year after the main series started. It got what worked with 2nd and stuck to it but they were also swamped with making DT2nd, testing that waters of a Diva game on 3DS which later became Mirai 1 and most of all, F was in the works. Extend was a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. It was followed up by Diva 2nd which was a huge improvement from its predecessor.
